of poems and sadness

these days, i have been reading much poetry. i guess i turned to poems for solace because it could so eerily relate. at 2am last night, i stood above the amphi just to finish the universe of us. it got me thinking of the amount of sadness the world can actually feel. its ironic how happiness is so much harder to express and how sadness is so easily expressed despite their connotations. maybe, poetry relates because the sadness and melancholy in that one book seems to mirror our hidden ones. all our unsaid pain and longing expressed into words that we couldnt form. maybe, poetry comforts because, in that short span of time, we are at peace with ourselves, knowing that somewhere out there in the world, we are not alone. as disappointing as it is, human beings are just primarily sad even if we make ourselves believe otherwise.

xoxo,
